Most Sought After Car Originally Made of Clay

First 55 Chevy was made of clay

Did you know that the first 1955 Chevy was a full-size clay model of the car GM would later spend $300 million to turn into a car on the production line. source: 1954 issue of Time Magazine.  The '55 Chevy is still highly sought after to this day.  Photo on left is a picture of that clay model car.  Click photo to enlarge.

Chevrolet Bel Air had longer life in Canada

The Chevrolet Bel Air was manufactured from 1953 (we found a '53 Chevrolet Bel Air deserted in the woods with trees growning around it -- sad lonely sight it was), anyway, back to the topic -- the Bel Air was manufactured from 1953 to 1975 in the United States, but in Canada, they kept making them until 1981.  I found that tidbit of info at Wikipedia.

Bel Air gets a little sister, the Delray

The Bel Air did have its competition.  During the 1950s (a glorious era) the Corvette and the El Camino also came on to the roads.  The Delray (210) materialized on the roads in 1954 as A 2-door cruiser that was less expensive than the Bel Air, but the Delray took on a life of its own also.  Three years later it took over the 150 and became the "oh, so you can't afford a Bel Air" car.
