Second owner inherited it and has put 100 miles on it.  This is a fantastic original classic cadillac.  The lady who inherited it has never used a computer and will be mailing the pictures of the Cadillac to us.  I'll scan them in and post them on this webpage as soon as I get them.

Facts and Research on the History of a 1977 Cadillac Coup de Ville

1977 was the first year Cadillac replaced the 500 cu in engine with the 425 cu in.  It also marks the first year Cadillac sold De Villes without fender skirts on the rear wheels.

Basically Cadillac downsized all their vehicles.  But overall changes were minor with the most noticeable changes being (other than the engine) the interior and trim.

Major changes by Cadillac did not happen until 1980.  Only 138,000 de Villes were sold in 1977.  The Cabriolet option on Cadillac coupe de Villes had a vinyl roof and opera lamps.

Top hit songs referring specially to the Coupe de Ville include such famous artists as:

Bon Jovi "Someday Just Might be Tonight"

Ray Stevens "Butterfly Inside a Coupe de Ville"

Meat Loaf "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad"

Chuck Berry "Maybellene" and "No Money Down"

Ice Cube "A Gansta's Fairytale"

Joe Nichols "Size Matters" -- source Wikipedia.
