Thunderbird Squarebird History
Ford made four body styles
for the Thunderbird in 1966. This car is the 63A: Hardtop. Production: 13,389 Sold new for $4,395.
According to the Thunderbird Registry website, this is the only 1966 Thunderbird body style that is correctly referred to
as a "hardtop."
Early T-Birds (1964-65) had a seat belt light controlled inside the light unit.
All a driver had to do to shut it off was tap the lens. Later, because folks didn't like being forced to wear seat
belts, Ford rigged the seat belt light to simply shut off after a minute. Some early 1966 SquareBirds may still have
the retractor switch. If so it is located up under the dash near the steering column.
