to say to least. But the parts are there and it is completely restorable inside and out.
Interesting Facts about GMC Engines
Prior to developing their own engines, GMC used the Chevrolet Straight-6 engine and the Pontiac V8. In 1955 GMC
use the Pontiac 287 but in 1956 changed to a Pontiac 316. However, GMC advertised to the public that the engines
were GMC 288 and GMC 316.
In 1959 GMC reduced the bore of Pontiac 's 370 and made it their 336. Keep in mind that this does not hold true
for all GMCs in 1959 because in Canada, the GMC plant used Chevrolet's small-block engines -- not the Pontiac engine.
